About Us

To be Safe or Really safe, is the question you should be asking … When it comes to areas that suffer from Tornados, Hurricanes, Earthquakes or Fires

There’s a difference. Under normal circumstances, most of us don’t spend time thinking or worrying about the strength of our houses. We basically take it for granted.

Our houses look strong, so we assume they are strong. But are they? We think about and sometimes worry about the strength of skyscrapers, bridges and tunnels. But not houses. If it’s not falling-down, dilapidated wreck, we think it’s okay—until something like a tornado hits!

Real strength is exactly that: what the house can withstand or endure without collapsing, burning, splitting or rotting.

A home with real strength protects its occupants from injury and death. It keeps them safe.

Monolithic Domes have that kind of real strength. They can withstand the force of a tornado, hurricane or earthquake. They cannot burn, rot or be eaten by bugs. Monolithic Domes get that strength in two ways: from their shape and from the materials used in their construction. There’s nothing assumed or imaginary about the strength a dome gets from its shape.

Our Domes start out as a shell structure shaped like an egg. But don’t let that fool you. An egg may look fragile, but it’s remarkably strong. Here’s a fun experiment: Clasp your hands in front of you and interlock your fingers. Pull your palms apart so your hands form a cup. Place an egg lengthwise in this cup. Now try to break the egg by pushing your palms together. You will not be able to do it. An egg is shaped with a double curve that distributes pressure evenly throughout the shell. As your palms push against the egg, most of the pressure transfers evenly throughout the whole shell to the other side of the egg and into your other palm.

Monolithic Domes & Eco-Shells designed in the U.S and Globally

The Monolithic Dome is a reinforced concrete structure that can be built quickly and economically. The Monolithic Dome provides a secure, high quality, hyper-insulated permanent home that protects its inhabitants from the elements and natural disasters.

Disaster Resistant: Monolithic Domes meet FEMA standards for providing “near-absolute protection” and have a proven ability to survive tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, most man-made disasters, fire, termites and rot.

Energy Efficient: No building is more of a micro-energy user or greener than a Monolithic Dome – unless you simply don’t care what the building costs. The Monolithic Dome is micro- energy efficient. Its energy needs for maintaining a comfortable interior are one fourth of any other normal structure. A Monolithic Dome would require less energy to heat or cool than a super-insulated metal building or a conventional house covered with an air- tight wrap.

Design Possibilities: The inherent strength of the dome allows for many different designs. Second and third floors do not necessarily need supporting walls.

Size Limitations: Monolithic Domes can be built up to the size of a large stadium, providing unparalleled open span opportunities.

Durability:
Monolithic Domes are designed to have a life span measured in centuries.

Income Properties: Monolithic Domes provide investment opportunities. Low maintenance rental units can be built quickly for the largest unmet need in the housing market; single working people.

The Eco-Shell

The Eco-Shell is a reinforced concrete structure that can be built quickly and economically. The Eco-Shell provides a secure, high quality, permanent home that protects its inhabitants from the elements and natural disasters.

Disaster Resistant: The Eco-Shell is resistant to fire, earthquakes and hurricanes. The integrity of the structure is not compromised by insect or animal infestation or flood damage. Its unique design also provides a stable temperate interior.

Low-Cost Housing: Eco-Shells are significantly less expensive than conventional concrete structures. They typically require fewer construction materials than traditional buildings and a minimal use of non-renewable resources. The distinctive repeatable construction process is also a key factor in reducing construction expenses. Significant economies of scale can be realized on larger projects. Eco-Shells can be rapidly constructed by a local workforce, providing jobs and infusing money into the local economy.

Adaptability: The design and size of the Eco-Shell is adaptable to the social and environmental needs of the community it will serve.

Durability: The design and size of the larger structures can be built to accommodate schools, clinics, police stations, places of worship or small business premises. Single buildings are limited to a diameter of forty feet or twelve meters and a height of thirty-three feet or ten meters. The maximum ground floor size is therefore 1,250 square feet or 116 square meters. Second floors can be added.  By constructing permanent structures designed to last several centuries with little need for maintenance, Eco-Shell inhabitants are free from the financial, time and energetic burden of frequent reconstruction inherent in other traditional structures and building techniques.

ALEX PAJIC

LEAD DESIGNER

Originally from Croatia, Alex grew up in Vienna, Austria. His love of architecture started at an early age building intricate structures from stones on Croatian beaches. He has a dual background in construction engineering and green building/green architecture. As a federally licensed master builder in Austria he designed, built, and remodeled a wide variety of residential, multi family, infill, and hospitality projects throughout Europe before moving to the US in 2016.
His focus is on creating captivating, warm, and inviting spaces that draw inspiration from the “genius loci” – the prevailing character of the place he builds in.
Alex firmly believes in the power of educating the public about sustainable construction practices, and that well designed and healthy buildings should be accessible to all.
His spare time is spent working on vintage watches and clocks, experimenting in the kitchen, and following rugby
